Cu vânzări de peste 75 de milioane de discuri, ocupând ani în șir topul clasamentelor internaționale, trupa suedeză Roxette, formată din Marie Fredriksson şi Per Gessle a lansat cel de-al zecelea album, „Good Karma”, în iunie 2016. Acesta a fost și anul în care solistei, născută la 30 mai, 1958, la Östra Ljungby, Skåne län, în sudul Suediei, medicii i-au interzis să mai urce pe scenă din cauza unei tumori cerebrale în urma căreia a urmat un tratament chimioterapeutic agresiv.
„Good Karma” s-a dovedit a fi, astăzi, de rău augur. Marie Fredriksson a pierdut o luptă nedreaptă cu boala, în dimineața zilei de 9 decembrie 2019. „It must have been love, but it’s over now” – moartea pune capăt lucrurilor frumoase, fără a aduce niciun argument, fără negocieri, fără dus-întors.
Cuvintele partenerului ei de scenă, Per Gessle, sunt mai mult decât răvășitoare: „Ai fost un muzician extraordinar, un talent vocal și un artist excepțional!. Sunt mândru și fericit că am împărtășit cu tine atât de mult timp, căldură, generozitate și simț al umorului… Lucrurile nu vor mai fi niciodată la fel.”
